However, considering the fact that multi-tasking is an important word in the life of the contemporary human being, our memory sometimes might play tricks on us. Not to mention that it gradually loses some of its lustre, if we do not take proper care of it. Just like our hair, skin, or body. However, we always might start working out, in order to make our bodies more shapely or resort to all the various products, offered on the market, in order to make our hair and skin more shiny. It is just that simple! But what can we do about our memory? The purpose of my article is to give you some tips on how to improve your memory as well as how not to forget important things, such as meetings, business arrangements, and other events. Thus, you will be able to organise your time properly.
- Keep Your Things in Order
This might sound irrelevant to the topic, but I believe that the first step to successful time management is providing yourself with clean and neat workspace. Throw away things like unnecessary sheets of paper, pieces of paper clips, empty pens, etc. Moreover, erase all the useless documents from your hard drive. This might seem insignificant to you, but, trust me, maintaining your desk in a perfectly clean condition will help you find things more quickly. Therefore, you will not spend half an hour or so in looking for what you need. And what is more, you will not have to rack your brain to remember where to find this one important thing, stuffed between the piles of gewgaws.
- Jot Information Down
It is universally acknowledged that writing helps some people remember things better. So, write, write, write! Write everything down, even the least significant information. Make your notepad or organiser your best friend. This old-time technique is probably the most effective means to never miss an important business meeting, your grandfather’s birthday, or some other event. Of course, you have to get accustomed to looking through your notes regularly.
In order to make it easier for you to keep track on all the things you are supposed to do, you can divide your notepad into several sections – one for your daily tasks, one for your upcoming meetings, one for shopping lists, one for the birthdays of your family members and friends, etc.

If you are one of those people who find writing down on a sheet of paper too time-consuming (yes, there are such busy workaholics who do not want to waste time even for this), you can always resort to the hundreds, if not thousands, of mobile applications that perform the function of organisers in an excellent manner. Their best advantage is that they can always notify you about a pending business arrangement or some other errand that you have to attend to by means of those annoying beeping sounds.

Similarly to our body, our memory also needs some training, in order to function properly. So, try to stay mentally active even when you are not working. That is, you can read a book or a magazine you enjoy or do crossword puzzles. It is also a good idea to drive different routes every day.
Studies indicate that magnesium is an excellent memory boost. So, you can try to eat more fish, bananas, or apples, for they are known to be rich in magnesium. Speaking of food, it is also a good idea to add a little olive oil to your diet, for some researchers claim that it stimulates the formation of long-lasting memories.
And last but not least, try to reduce stress. It is probably the biggest enemy not only to our memory, but to our health as a whole. Do the things you like most, spend more time with your loved ones, and never allow negative thoughts to overshadow your good mood.
