There is no doubt that we all need a sense of balance in life and we all want to reach well-being.
Having that kind of life that you long and need is within your reach and it is not as hard as you may think it is. There is one main ingredient that is so needed in order to reach that ultimate well-being that we all long for and need and that main ingredient is effort.
I know that the word “effort” may be correlated to “work” but it doesn’t have to be. If for you this is the case, know that you are worth all the work and effort that is required. I would like to remind you that you are your best investment that you can ever make. I know it would be lovely if there was a magic pill that would resolve our diet needs or a pill that would magically make us lose weight, or a pill that would automatically make us happy or a magic wand that would attract all the goodness we want. But the truth is that without effort, you won’t have that healthy diet that your body needs. Without effort, you can’t have the healthy relationships that you deserve. Without effort, you can’t have that body that you want. Without effort, great things are not possible.
How is effort applied when it comes to reaching ultimate well-being? To have a healthy diet that your body needs, it will be necessary to be mindful of what you are putting in your body. It will be important to take some time out to cook your meals, this way you know what you are putting in your body. It will be necessary that you start looking at foods in a different way. You will need to learn to treat your body differently. All this comes with effort because you need to be willing to make the necessary changes. You need to be willing to make the effort because without it, you can’t make the changes necessary to have a healthy diet.
Healthy relationships are another example of where effort is certainly needed. To have healthy relationships, (and with this I include not only romantic relationships but also friendships, family, coworkers, etc), you need to make the effort to be loving towards others. You need to make the effort to show that you care. You need to make the effort to communicate effectively and take the time to cultivate these relationships. It’s so easy to take those who truly love us for granted and this is a big mistake. If you want healthy relationships, you have to make the effort to maintain those relationships.
Putting effort is something that goes with anything across the board, not just when it comes to having a healthy diet and healthy relationships. These are just two examples that I brought up but effort is needed for everything in life because greatness requires effort.
I believe in the power of the mind for everything in life. Your view on “effort” is what makes the difference in your well-being. For example, instead of viewing at cooking as a chore, view it as an opportunity to nourish your body and mind, and with time, the whole idea of cooking will feel different for you. When you view your body as the precious home and vehicle that it is, you will want to be more mindful of the way you eat. Therefore, cooking won’t feel like effort or work to you. When you come home from work, instead of viewing the time you dedicate to your family as something else that you have to give some of your time to, view it as an investment and a time to recharge your batteries. Taking time for your family is an investment because when the going gets tough, it is your family who is there for you through thick and thin. Love is truly medicinal so when you give love and receive love from your family, this can help recharge your batteries. When it comes to your level of physical activity, you schedule a time to be active because you know how important this will be for you in the long run. When you do anything, you should not only look at the immediate gain, also look for what you get in the long run. You are a total sum of what you do on a daily basis. When it comes to your sleep, you make an effort to have good sleep hygiene and to get enough sleep. Truly, nothing can really be achieved without effort.
With this said, I encourage you to change the way you view putting effort into your well-being. You are worth the trouble, you are worth the effort, you are worth the work. You are a precious being and there is no one like you! I also would like to encourage you to not take the easy way out of your own greatness. Greatness is something that is built overtime and every effort that you make on yourself will increase in interest so there are many gains in the long run. Make the effort to always eat healthy. Make the effort to add physical activity into your life. Make the effort to cultivate healthy relationships. Make the effort to get a good night sleep. Effort is truly the main ingredient to reach ultimate well-being because you can dream about having a great life but unless you make the effort to do so, you won’t have that life you want. Once again, you are worth every effort it takes to having that well-being and life that you want.
